Erling Haaland just won't stop! Man City hitman breaks Man Utd legend Wayne Rooney's Premier League record as incredible start to new season continues

Manchester City star Erling Haaland continued his prolific start to the new season by breaking a Premier League record with a goal against Brentford.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Haaland scored twice for City in the first half of their game against Brentford to continue his blistering start to the new season. The Norwegian scored two goals in quick succession to give City a 2-1 lead going into half-time after they had conceded inside 22 seconds. The goals proved additionally poignant for Haaland after he dealt with the death of a close friend in midweek.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Haaland has scored all but two of City's Premier League goals this season as Pep Guardiola's side look to continue their perfect start to the new season. Rooney, meanwhile scored 27 times in the 2011-12 season when he set the previous record, which was his most prolific campaign of his career.

DID YOU KNOW?

This is Haaland's strongest start to any of his three seasons at City as he needed nine Premier League games to score his ninth goal last year. In his debut campaign, Haaland took just five games to get his ninth goal but he has achieved the feat at a faster rate this time around. The 24-year-old has now netted more Premier League goals than Eric Cantona and Luis Suarez, with his 71st strike coming in his 70th appearance.

WHAT NEXT FOR HAALAND AND MAN CITY?

City will be hoping Haaland can carry his Premier League form into their match against Inter in the Champions League next week. Guardiola's men will then face a potential early title clash with Arsenal next week, with the Gunners desperate to keep Haaland quiet despite a number of injuries to some key players.

Cristiano Ronaldo explains how to fix Man Utd in attack on Erik ten Hag

Cristiano Ronaldo details where Manchester United need to improve.

Ronaldo has outlined how United can improve.

Cristiano Ronaldo believes Manchester United need to rebuild 'everything' if they are to return to the top of the Premier League, while he has criticised the mentality of manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo, who enjoyed two spells at United varying in success, has broken down the issues at the club after they recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish during the 2023/24 campaign, dropping to eighth in the standings. His initial six-year stint with the Red Devils saw him win three Premier League titles, the Champions League, two League Cups and an FA Cup.

https://paiptobad.net/4/8056962

His most recent experience, however, came with less success, and his contract was mutually terminated midway through his second season after falling out with Ten Hag.

But the United legend believes he has the key to United's lack of success and has detailed how the club should rebuild in order to regain their place among Europe's best.

"Manchester [United], they need to rebuild everything, in my opinion," he told former teammate Rio Ferdinand in the latest episode of Rio Ferdinand Presents. "The coach, they say they cannot compete to win the league and Champions League. Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the league or Champions League.

You have to, to mentally say: 'Listen, maybe we don't have that potential, but I cannot say that. We're going to try.' You have to try. This club needs time to rebuild because it's still one of the best clubs in the world, but they need to change.

"They understand that. This is the only way. This is why they show, they start to change again, the structure of the club, the president, the infrastructures and everything. The owners of the club.

https://beeglain.net/4/8056963

"I believe that the future will be bright. I believe, but they don't depend only on the talents. It's more than that. It's all club, all, not only players, club, everything as a unit, united. They have to rebuild from the bottom. If not, they cannot compete. It will be impossible.

"They can do good things, yes, they can win Carabao, yeah, but I mean, Champions League or Europa League or Premier League, difficult, in my opinion. And I wish that I'm wrong, I wish, but will be difficult."

Ronaldo also detailed his relationship with Ten Hag, claiming that while he does not respect the Dutchman, he ultimately still has love for United.

"I don't have respect for him because he doesn't show respect for me," he continued. "I'm not happy the way it all happen, but in the same way, we cannot control some points of our life sometimes, but it's done, already done.

"But to be honest with you, what I wish for Manchester, it's what I wish for me. The best they can make, again the best team they can, and I love that club. I'm not that kind of guy that forgets the past."

Why we Increased Price of Petrol — President Tinubu

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has offered reasons why the government increased the price of petrol.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said Tinubu spoke in China at a meeting with Nigerians.

The meeting with the Nigerians who are resident in China was held on Friday in Beijing to round off the President’s official engagements in China.

Addressing members of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization in China (NIDO China) and the Nigerian community at the China World Hotel, the President said the increase in cost of petrol was to ensure the deployment of more resources to develop infrastructure that can be compared to what is obtainable in China

He said: “Nigeria is going through reforms, and we are taking very bold and unprecedented decisions.

“For example, you might have been hearing from home in the last few days about fuel prices

“But, can we help it?

“Can we develop good roads like you have here?

“You see electricity being constant in quantity and quality.

“You see water supply, constant and running, and you see their good schools.

“And we say we want to hand over a banner without stain to our children?

“What is the critical part to get us there if we cannot take hard decisions to pave the way for a country that is blessed and so talented?

“So many of you are so talented, speaking very fluent Mandarin.

“It is what you contribute and tell them at home that will reflect in the attitude of our people.

“The more you want everything free, it will become more expensive and long-delayed to achieve meaningful development.”

To the applause of the audience, President Tinubu stated that one key takeaway from his visit to China is the commitment to replicate China’s infrastructure back home.

He added: “We want our children to be in good schools, not tattered huts and dilapidated buildings.

“We must make our teaching innovative and allow businesses of all kinds and sizes to flourish.

Tinubu Given 48-Hour Ultimatum to Reverse Fuel Price Hike as Nigerians Face Severe Hardship September 8, 2024 FirstNews The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has given President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a 48-hour ultimatum to reverse the recent hike in the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. In an open letter dated September 7, 2024, and signed by its deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP urged Tinubu to use his “leadership position and good offices” to direct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to immediately roll back the price increase. SERAP stated, “The increase in petrol price constitutes a fundamental breach of constitutional guarantees and the country’s international human rights obligations.” The organisation further warned that failure to comply with the ultimatum would result in legal action. SERAP also called on the president to “direct the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and appropriate anti-corruption agencies to probe the allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the NNPC.” Specifically, SERAP urged an investigation into the reported $300 million bailout funds received by the NNPCL in August 2024 and the $6 billion debt it owes to suppliers, despite its alleged failure to remit oil revenues to the treasury. The letter emphasized, “Suspected perpetrators of alleged corruption and mismanagement in the NNPC should face prosecution as appropriate, if there is sufficient admissible evidence, and any proceeds of corruption should be fully recovered.” SERAP expressed concern that the petrol price increase is exacerbating poverty and inequality in the country. The letter continued, “Rather than pursuing public policies to address the growing poverty and inequality in the country, your government seems to be punishing the poor.” It added that the price hike has “rendered already impoverished citizens incapable of satisfying their minimum needs for survival.” The open letter also addressed the persistent corruption in Nigeria’s oil sector, stating that “the increase is not inevitable, as it stems from the persistent failure of successive governments to address allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the oil sector and the impunity of suspected perpetrators.” Highlighting the broader impact of the price hike, SERAP said, “The increase is causing immense hardship to those less well-off. We are concerned that as the economic situation in Nigeria deteriorates, the increase in petrol price is pushing people further into poverty.” SERAP concluded by reminding the president of his legal obligations under the Nigerian Constitution and international anti-corruption treaties. It stated, “Investigating and prosecuting allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the oil sector would be entirely consistent with the Nigerian Constitution, and the country’s international anti-corruption obligations.” If no action is taken within 48 hours, SERAP warned it would consider legal avenues to compel the government to reverse the hike and address the issues surrounding corruption in the oil sector.

Dangote Refinery: This is what Otedola said about it.

 My Dear Brother Aliko,

First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support and belief in actualizing this monumental achievement under his administration. This day belongs to every Nigerian who has dared to dream of a better future. Congratulations to our great nation—today, we all stand a little taller.

Aliko, it feels like just yesterday, but it has been 25 long years since we first set our sights on transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape. I remember vividly when we set up the Blue Star Consortium to acquire stakes in the Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries—20% for me and 51% for you. We were ready to change the game, but fate had other plans. The government of the day, in an act I can only describe as utterly obnoxious, canceled our stakes and thwarted our vision. But, as always, you refused to be deterred.

You never gave up on the dream we shared. You carried the torch forward, igniting a spark that has today become a roaring flame. And now, 25 years later, here we stand on the precipice of history, with the first fuel shipment from the Dangote Refinery—a feat that is nothing short of miraculous.

While the Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries have remained dormant, their promise unfulfilled despite billions of dollars spent on so-called turn-around maintenance, you have achieved what many said was impossible. You have beaten all the skeptics, silenced the naysayers, and proved wrong those who doubted your resolve, even those who never wanted this project to succeed.

You have not just built a refinery; you have liberated us from the chains of economic dependence that have held this nation back for far too long. The days of bowing to foreign powers for our fuel needs are over, thanks to your vision and determination. You have dealt a death blow to the so-called local cabals who have fattened themselves for years, feeding off our nation’s economic slavery. These cabals, who have grown rich by keeping Nigeria in a perpetual state of dependence, must now face the reality that their era of easy gains is coming to an end.

I am reminded of the time you revolutionized the cement industry in Nigeria. Ships that once brought in cement turned into rusting relics, scraps of a bygone era. Now, with your refinery in full swing, I foresee a similar fate for fuel imports. The depot owners should take heed—it’s time to dismantle those depots and sell them as scraps while the market is still high. The world has changed, and those who do not adapt will be left behind.

When I ventured into the depot business with Zenon, it was in response to the inefficiencies of the NNPC. Zenon pioneered the diesel business in Nigeria and quickly became the largest in the country, filling the gaps left by our inefficient system. But today, your refinery stands as a beacon of what is possible when one has the audacity to dream and the tenacity to see it through.

Aliko, you have my deepest admiration and respect. Congratulations to you and the entire board, management and staff of Dangote Refinery on this monumental achievement. This is not just a victory for you but for every Nigerian who dares to dream. May this be just the beginning of even greater things to come.

With profound respect and warmest regards,

F. Ote$

DRUG ABUSE: It's Causes and Preventions.

Drug abuse, the compulsive and excessive use of drugs, particularly impacts a person’s brain. It causes brain changes that make it difficult for a person to practice self-control and interfere with their power to defy the urge to take drugs. The changes in the functioning of the brain are inexorable and this is the reason why it often relapses. Even those who recover stand a high risk of returning to drugs even after years of recovery. However, this does not mean that the treatment is not effective enough. One must ensure that the treatment is not stopped. It is an ongoing process though the doctors alter the medication from time to time on the basis of the response received from the patients.

What causes Drug Addiction?

Different people fall prey to this self-damaging habit due to different reasons. Some of the key reasons for drug addiction are shared below:

Feeling of Emptiness

Feeling of emptiness can be the worst feeling and is often difficult to handle. To get rid of these feelings, many people take the road to drugs. They feel that drugs will help them fill the void.

Work Pressure

Many students begin taking drugs to overcome the study related stress. Similarly, there is so much pressure in the corporate offices these days that people are unable to cope up with it. They often turn towards drugs to deal with the stress and anxiety caused at work.

Family/ Relationship problems

Many people also tend to begin taking drugs to overcome stress caused due to family issues or relationship problems and eventually become addicted to the same.

Experimentation

Teenagers often try drugs just for experimenting and get addicted to them before they even realise. Teenagers are more prone to get addicted to them.

Genetic

Drug addiction can even be genetic. It is often seen that this problem runs in the families. So, there is a high risk of children getting addicted if their parents abuse drugs.

Drugs Available on Prescription

Most drugs prescribed by the doctors are as addictive as the street drugs. Many people mistake them as safe and repeated use of these leads to addiction.

Factors Causing Drug Abuse

The factors causing drug abuse have mainly been classified in three categories. Here is a look at each of these in detail:

Environmental Factors

A person’s environment includes various factors such as his social status, family, friends, professional life, etc. Problems in the family, bad company, competition at work and lack of proper guidance and support from parents or teachers can often lead to drug abuse.

Biological Factors

Drug abuse can also be a genetic problem. A child stands a high chance of falling prey to drug abuse if either of his parents has been under the influence of the same. Certain mental disorders can also cause a person to turn towards drugs.

Age Factor

Though drug addiction can develop at any age however those who begin taking drugs at an early age have a high chance of getting addicted. This is because those areas in their brain that are responsible for self-control, judgement and decision making are still in their development stage. This is the reason why teenagers are more prone to drug abuse.

Measures to Overcome Drug Addiction

Overcoming drug addiction can be difficult. However, it is not impossible. With the help of medication, expert guidance and support from family and friends, one can overcome this problem. Discussed below are some measures to help you overcome drug abuse.

Consult Doctor

It takes much more than a strong will power when it comes to getting rid of drug addiction. If you have taken the plunge to get out of the dark world of drugs then it is suggested to consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Exercise

Reducing drug dosage may result in increased level of stress. You can overcome this to a large extent by indulging in physical activities such as jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing and yoga among others.

Eat Healthy

Your physical health especially brain deteriorates because of regular intake of drugs. It is thus advised to have food that contains all the essential nutrients.

Talk to Close Ones

Instead of keeping your feelings to yourself, it is suggested to vent them out. Talk to your family and friends about your issues. This is a good way to de-stress rather than relying on drugs.

Medication for Drug Abuse

Different types of medications are given to people suffering from different stages of drug abuse. Here is a look at these:

Staying in Treatment

The patient’s brain needs to be trained to adapt to the absence of drugs. This treatment helps the patients control their craving for drugs.

Withdrawal Treatment

People who stop using drugs can experience symptoms such as stress, anxiety, mood swings, etc. They are prescribed medications to overcome these symptoms.

Prevent Relapse

There are many factors that can trigger a relapse. Medications are being developed to control these triggers.

Conclusion

Drug Abuse is a common problem these days. Though hard to resist, the usage of drugs can be controlled with proper medication and guidance.

Drug abuse, mainly caused in an attempt to overcome emotional upheaval in one’s life, can be self damaging. It is suggested to stick to a healthy lifestyle and steer clear of unhealthy practices such as dependence on drugs or alcohol to stay fit and active.

FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILATION

Forgiveness and reconciliation are fundamental concepts that play a crucial role in maintaining healthy relationships, fostering personal growth, and promoting social harmony. Forgiveness is the process of letting go of negative emotions and feelings associated with a past hurt or offense, while reconciliation involves rebuilding and restoring relationships after a conflict or wrongdoing.

Forgiveness is not always easy, as it requires individuals to confront their emotions, acknowledge their vulnerability, and choose to release the hold that the past has on them. However, holding onto resentment and anger can lead to emotional turmoil, affecting both mental and physical well-being. Forgiveness, on the other hand, brings peace, freedom, and a sense of closure.

Reconciliation, while closely tied to forgiveness, is a distinct process. It involves a willingness to engage with the person who has caused harm, to listen to their perspective, and to work towards a mutual understanding. Reconciliation requires effort and commitment from all parties involved, but it can lead to deeper, more meaningful relationships and a greater sense of community.

In the context of faith, forgiveness and reconciliation are often seen as essential aspects of spiritual growth and development. Many religious traditions emphasize the importance of forgiving others and seeking forgiveness for one's own wrongdoing.

Here are some pros and cons of forgiveness and reconciliation:

Pros of Forgiveness:

1. Emotional liberation: Forgiveness releases the hold of negative emotions.

2. Peace and closure: Forgiveness brings peace and a sense of closure.

3. Improved mental health: Forgiveness reduces stress, anxiety, and depression.

4. Better relationships: Forgiveness can improve relationships and communication.

5. Personal growth: Forgiveness promotes self-reflection, empathy, and understanding.

Pros of Reconciliation:

1. Restored relationships: Reconciliation rebuilds and strengthens relationships.

2. Healing and closure: Reconciliation brings healing and closure for all parties.

3. Improved communication: Reconciliation promotes open and honest communication.

4. Trust rebuilding: Reconciliation helps rebuild trust and understanding.

5. Community building: Reconciliation fosters community and social cohesion

Here are some reasons why we should endeavor to forgive and reconcile:

Forgiveness:

1. Freedom from resentment: Forgiveness releases us from the burden of resentment.

2. Emotional healing: Forgiveness promotes emotional healing and well-being.

3. Improved relationships: Forgiveness can improve relationships and communication.

4. Personal growth: Forgiveness fosters empathy, understanding, and self-reflection.

5. Spiritual growth: Forgiveness is a fundamental aspect of spiritual growth and development.

Reconciliation:

1. Restored relationships: Reconciliation rebuilds and strengthens relationships.

2. Healing and closure: Reconciliation brings healing and closure for all parties.

3. Trust rebuilding: Reconciliation helps rebuild trust and understanding.

4. Community building: Reconciliation fosters community and social cohesion.

5. Accountability: Reconciliation promotes accountability and personal responsibility.

Shared benefits:

1. Peace and harmony: Forgiveness and reconciliation promote peace and harmony.

2. Release from negativity: Forgiveness and reconciliation release us from negativity.

3. New beginnings: Forgiveness and reconciliation offer opportunities for new beginnings.

4. Personal transformation: Forgiveness and reconciliation can lead to personal transformation.

5. God's grace: Forgiveness and reconciliation reflect God's grace and love.

Remember, forgiveness and reconciliation are processes that take time, effort, and commitment. However, the benefits can be transformative, leading to personal growth, improved relationships, and a more harmonious community.

In conclusion, forgiveness and reconciliation are powerful tools for healing, growth, and transformation. By choosing to forgive and work towards reconciliation, individuals can break free from the shackles of resentment and anger, and cultivate more positive, meaningful relationships. As we strive to build stronger, more compassionate communities, the practices of forgiveness and reconciliation are essential.

MODESTY: Embracing this Godly Virtue in our Dressing.

Modesty, sometimes known as demureness, is a mode of dress and deportment which intends to avoid the encouraging of sexual attraction in others. The word modesty comes from the Latin word modestus which means 'keeping within measure'.

https://jithethos.net/4/8057002

In this use, revealing certain body parts is considered inappropriate, thus immodest. In conservative Middle Eastern societies, modesty may involve women completely covering their bodies with a burqa and not talking to men who are not immediate family members. In Christian Anabaptist and similar sects, it may involve women wearing only ankle-length skirts, blouses up to the collar, and often a small head covering or shawl. Among both and others, a one-piece swimsuit may be considered modest while wearing a bikini is not. In most countries, exposure of the body in breach of community standards of modesty, as well as public nudity, is considered indecent exposure and is usually punished by law.

Nudity may be acceptable in public single-sex changing rooms at swimming baths, for example, or for mass medical examinations of military personnel. A person who would never disrobe in the presence of the opposite sex in a social context might unquestioningly do so for a medical examination, while others might allow such examination but only by a person of the same sex.

Overall, standards of modesty vary widely around the world because of sociocultural and contextual differences and particular situations

The rate at which IMMORAL DRESSING grows in our society is alarming and need to be addressed urgently, as this is against the principles of the society. Young people must know that indecent dressing do not improve one’s beauty; rather, it dents ones image and it’s also a show of rebellion but these has become a way of dressing that is common among the people in our society especially the female one’s.

“Dress the way you want to be address” is a popular maxim far and wide, but the question is, is the wisdom the maxim teaches ever adhered to?

https://beeglain.net/4/8056963

My fellow steemians the fact is the way one dresses determines the way he or she will be addressed. If a person dresses properly and decently, he or she will definitely attract respect and the person’s dignity will be protected, but when one is indecently dressed, he or she will attract disrespect, harassment and can even be rape which has been the experience of most indecent dressers.

A dress is said to be indecent if it is morally and sexually offensive. It entails the exposure of one’s body to the public. Many youth are exposed to mode of dressing which they observe on television or social media where they see celebrities dress indecently and they try to emulate them. Most celebrities, while on stage, wear all sorts of clothes like pants, miniskirts, bumper shorts, tight trousers and some even wear their trousers on their waist, a style now referred to as sagging. The youth tend to dress this way in order to be like the celebrities they see on television, thereby ignoring their pride with respect to the way one should dress in order to be addressed with respect and value, all in the name of fashion

CAUSES:

*Poor parental guidance

*Influence from peer groups

*Misuse of the Internet

*Not keeping to cultural values

*Low self esteem

"Demonic oppression

https://paiptobad.net/4/8056962

EFFECTS:

Those who engage in indecent dressing either suffer or engage in the following activities:

*Prostitution (females)

*Robbery

*Lying

*Yahoo Yahoo

*Rape and sexual harassment in the case of the female

And worst of all some end up being used

CONTROL'S:

*Based on some research parent and their parenting role influences their children indecent dressing, so Parent should please dress decently and act as a role model to their children.

*The mass media also should do more to promote decent dressing in the society. Since internet has taken over and youths are on the internet everyday. Please the media should promote decent dressings instead of publicicy indecent dresses.

*Religious institutions should always promote the culture of decent dressing.

https://ookrejuhocm.net/4/8056954

 CONCLUSION;

In as much as we are all entitled to our own opinion, we should try to dress moderately, we should dress to our standard and not drag our families name to the mud.
